Huxtaburger No Meatlovers Burger

½ brown onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
2 wholemeal burger buns
1 pack of Alt Meat Co burger patties
2 slices “facon” or fake bacon
2 slices plant-based cheese
2 slices pineapple rounds
barbeque sauce, to serve
mustard, to serve
plant-based mayonnaise, to serve
Preheat oven to 180 C (grill).
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a frypan over medium heat, then cook onions until brown and softened. Set aside.
Add pineapple to the hot pan and grill for 2-3 minutes until browned. Set aside.
Add 1 tbsp oil to the same frypan over medium heat and cook burger patties for 3-5 minutes on each side, until crust is golden brown. Take care not to overcook the burgers to preserve juiciness.
While the burgers are cooking, slice burger buns and toast in oven for around 6 minutes until warm and slightly crispy.
Assemble the burgers and buns with fake bacon, grilled onion, plant-based cheese, pineapple rounds and sauces.
